RECENT WALKS:
On April 10, Chelane took Frances, Harris and
Chloe up to Hartwick Pines State Park to measure one of the trails
for our event on the day before Labor Day this year. As you can see,
there's still snow up there, still melting.
Alex and Stefan from the Washenaw Wanderers joined Chelane
and Teresa for the group walk of Lakelands Trail State Park from
Stockbridge. The rain was only misty, so we had a very pleasant
walk, although Alex was getting cold toward the end. This was Alex'
first straight-thru 10K! Way to go, Alex!
Check out the Stockbridge web page - I added a picture of a blond
(albino?) squirrel we saw on the route. NOTE - UPDATE 4/14 -
The start box has been moved from Dixie Cafe to Ransom's
Food Center. This is due to the Dixie
Cafe going out of business soon.

Memorial Day weekend we'll do our 2008
Trip to the Mammoth
Cave
region in Kentucky. In general, the trip
will leave early on Saturday, May 24
from Lansing and head
through Ohio into Kentucky where we'll do a walk in Bernheim
Arboretum. On Sunday, May
25, we are hosting a Guided Walk event in Mammoth Caves that
includes the Grand
Avenue Tour. Then on Monday, May 26
, we'll do the 2
state walk in Louisville , and then head
home. We'll be taking Chelane's van, unless we get enough folks
for a bigger van. Please send a $25 deposit to reserve your seat for
this trip.
CLUB STUFF:
We didn't have anyone send
in other nominations for Vice President and Treasurer by the time I
closed the nominations on Saturday morning. So, that being the
case, I declare the previously announced candidates, Teresa Hartswell for
Vice President and Joan Ritter for Treasurer, elected by
acclamation. Congratulations Teresa and Joan, we'll be grateful for
your coming efforts on behalf of the club.
And also a BIG THANK YOU to our outgoing VP, Dot
Meyers! She was a big support in getting our club formed and
going.
