COMING UP NEXT: Next Saturday is our group walk of Grand Ledge. Folks coming from the east side may want to carpool. We'll meet at Sweet Linda's at 10 am. The Niagara Trip has a few last minute seats. We have adjusted the plans to pick up folks along the way, so we are postponing the Haslett group walk. Also, we are going to head south of Lake Erie rather than north, so our Friday walk will be in Erie, PA. If you are interested in going, please contact me ASAP so I can check about a hotel room for you. I had a meeting with the director of the Chamber of Commerce here in Mason. He wants to work with us in promoting Mason. So, we get to run the Fun Walk for the Downhome Days as a Volksmarch event - exept we'll use the YRE route and stamp. That will be Friday, September 14. I will need a few volunteers to help out that evening, so if you'll be available, please let me know.
Our event at Auburn Hills went smoothly (Good Job, Joan!). Over a dozen folks from the community center participated at various lengths. One walker picked up a New Walker Packet, so we hope to see her at future events or group walks! Several veteran volkssporters got an entry in their College Program Books for Oakland University. Nancy got some pictures and I'll post after she gets me the CD. The Washtenaw Wanderers had very nice weather for their Elvisfest event. My pics are posted separately here.
AVA NEWS: The convention went very well, thanks to great California volunteers from several clubs out there. We elected a new president, Curt Myron, who has some exciting ideas about expanding AVA and club membership and participation. I'm hoping to get some "grabbers" soon for us to have available to hand to other walkers we meet when we're out group walking.
MEMBER NEWS: Jean Woltjer and Rob & Roxie Weaver all completed their 2007 Ambling Michigan books! Congratulations! Our August meeting is coming soon.
