Our event at Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area is THIS COMING SATURDAY!  We need donated goodies, so call Nancy if you can bring some.  If you haven't gotten an email directly about it, let me know.

On Memorial Day our group walk (5 or 10K) in Brighton will start at 2 pm.  We'll have dinner (and ice cream) afterward at the Yum Yum Tree.

We've had a very busy May so far!

On the 5th, MOVES held their first event on the Thornapple Trail in Middleville.  The weather at the start point was very windy, but once in among the trees on the trail it was very pleasant.  I helped with registration and walked 5K.  I saw Nancy there and several folks from the Historic Pathwalkers.  I walked a bit with Mary and Judy while Jim and Mike were  together farther back.  We found a great little Italian place very near the start point for dinner afterward.

On the 6th, the Washtenaw Wanderers held their 2nd annual event starting at the Gallup Canoe Livery in Ann Arbor.  There were quite a few folks using New Walker Packets, which is great news!  Again it was a bit windy (but not as bad as it was in Middleville), but otherwise quite nice.

In East Lansing, on the 12th, Teresa, Kim, Tom, Noelle and Lydia (age 4) were waiting at the start point when I arrived for the group walk.  Teresa, Mary and I walked with the Cruce family to Farm Lane, where they went west to finish the 5K and we headed south to continue the 10K.  As we were heading back north along Farm Lane, we spotted Nancy heading south.  Mary joined Nancy to complete her 10K while Teresa and I went on to finish ours.

On the 16th, I got on the Amtrak train in Battle Creek and joined Eunice, Teresa, Rob, Karen K and new walkers Mary and Marty for a day of walking in Chicago.  We had a very pleasant day, but because our train was late arriving and the route was longer than the expected 11K, we didn't have much time for touristy stuff along the walk.  The train on the way home was late also and I got to bed just minutes before midnight.  Eunice says she's thinking of doing the trip again in the fall.

Then, on the 19th, I joined the Washtenaw Wanderers on their group walk of Oakwoods MetroPark.  We got rained on only lightly, so it was a very pleasant walk.  I spoke to Tony about a date for our Crosswinds Marsh event next spring and with consultation from Stephan, we settled on May 4th next year.
