The Fairy Walk event in Ann Arbor was fun!  The kids and I walked a quick 5K first thing in the morning.  They enjoyed finding all the fairy doors along the route.  The weather was quite nice in the morning, drawing lots of participants.  The trail sweepers did their job in the rain, though, and I drove home in the snow.

Pictured are Harris and Frances by the Fairy Door at Red Shoes.

We are going to test walk in Northville on Saturday, Jan 13.  We'll start walking and measuring at Rebecca's at 1pm, but feel free to come have lunch with us before that!  Rebecca's is at 134 N Center St. in Northville, between Main St and Dunlap St.

From I-96 heading east, take exit 160 and head south on Beck Rd to 9 Mile.  Turn left and go to N. Center St.  Turn right, heading into downtown Northville.

From I-275, take exit 169 and head west on 7 Mile.  Turn right on S. Main St, then right on N Center St.

From the 14, take exit 18 and go north on Beck Rd to 7 Mile.  Turn right and head to S. Center St.  Turn left.

The Ambling Michigan program has begun with many of us getting our first stamp at the Fairy Walk.  I'll have the books with me in the club tub if you haven't got yours yet.  This is what the patch is going to look like . . .

There's a new discussion forum that I set up on Google Groups called "Michigan Volkssporting".  I encourage you to go join that group!  Use the link below, then click on "Join this group"

Michigan Volkssporting

PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND THE WALK AND MEETING IN HOWELL ON SATURDAY, FEB 10!  We'll meet at the hospital at 10 am to start the walk, then after the walk we'll head over to Mr. B's Rustic Tavern at the corner of Michigan & Grand River for our meeting at 1 pm.  If you are interested, WLNS-TV is offering a 1/2 off program that includes Mr. B's.

Eunice has arranged for the Yum Yum Tree to be the start point in Brighton.  We'll test walk that route once she has it ready for us.  The new seasonal in Holly State Rec Area will have the box at the campground office, but start at the trailhead parking area where we had the start / finish for the event there last October.

If you are a GLA member and have items you want to put on the agenda for our meeting in Howell in February, please email me.  I have a few requests already, including requests for YREs in Crosswinds Marsh, Maybury State Park and events at  the Detroit Marathon, Belle Isle and more.
