If you got lost trying to get to Oakwood Metropark, well so did we.  We stopped at the park office in Lower Huron Metropark and got some local directions to Oakwood.  We hung around until about 10 minutes to 11 to see if any other lost souls found their way.  Tony promised to put more specific directions on the web site for future participants.

The weather for the walk turned out to be not bad at all!  We started out bundled up, but as we walked we warmed up and opened up our layers.  New GLA member (and WW member) Tony led us on the nature hike.  Pam and Nancy from WW came as well as Karen B and Karen W from Hiking Michigan.  We had a pleasant, but a bit squishy, walk.

Listening to Tony explain some features of the park.

The next group walk is one the Washtenaw Wanderers are doing on Sunday, Dec 10 at our Plymouth YRE.  Stefan says that they plan to meet at Bode's about 1 pm.  I hope to see you join in for this final group walk!  Here's a map to the start point at Bode's Corned Beef House . . .

From I-275, take exit 28 and go west on Ann Arbor Rd.
At Main St., turn right and head north.  Bode’s will be on the right.

From M-14, take exit 20 and go south on Sheldon Rd.   At  N.Territorial / Penniman,
turn left and head east to Main St.  Turn left, Bode’s will be on the right.

If I have the materials from National by then, I'll meet with the trailmasters (Dot, Joan, Eunice, Mary, and Jeff) after the walk to pass on things needed to set up or renew all the boxes for our YREs in January.  Please let me know if you will need another time (thanks for the notice, Nancy).

Nancy is working on the new route in Northville, Eunice is working on Brighton and Mary is working on Milford.  I'll post a notice when I hear from them that their routes are ready for test-walking.  The submission window for walks starting next summer ends at the end of February.

If you are a GLA member and have items you want to put on the agenda for our meeting in Howell in February, please email me.  I have a few requests already, including requests for YREs in Crosswinds Marsh and Maybury State Park.  Mary, what restaurant are we going to be meeting at?
