It was a beautiful day for walking on Sunday when Eunice and I headed out to Michigan City, IN for the Hoosier Hikers' event. Don Vartanian met us out on the beach and took our picture with our feet in Lake Michigan.
Eunice reports that she has finished her 600 events book. Nancy Bratt went traveling to the New England states recently and says "I walked in 7 state and capitals and finished Riverwalk Special Program and the 4,500 kilometers Distance Program! Am working on completing 450 events now (I finished 425 events at the Charlotte Group Walk, I think!" Next up are the two events on the 14th and 15th. If I don't see you in Ionia then I hope to catch you at Independence Lake. The 3rd quarter is over. Trailmasters, I need your quarterly numbers! We need folks to help out at our Holly event on the 28th. Contact Nancy if you would like to help. Email her or phone her at 248-478-3161. I got a quote from a local printer to print up the Ambling Michigan books at a very reasonable price. So, I have submitted the plans to the AVA Executive Director and I'm waiting on her word before I send the job to print up 100 books and get around to designing the award patch. Eunice pointed out to me that we have been overlooking a local YRE in Oakwoods Metropark (I just now added that to the map page). So, do you want to walk there on Nov. 11 rather than in Sylvania, OH? Let me know. Sweatshirts are just in! (I got called to come pick them up while I was working on this newsletter.) $25 for L or XL, $27 for XXL. They are med. weight with hoods and hand-warmer pocket. Let me know if you want one. I'll have them with the club stuff at all the events.

Great Lakes Weekend Aug 3 - 5 , 2007 Get your passports ready! Here's how our trip is shaping up. We'll leave at 6 am on Friday, August 3rd from the Holiday Inn Express in Okemos, MI and then from the carpooling lot behind the Cracker Barrel for those who will drive to meet us. Then we'll head through Port Huron over to St. Catherines, Ontario to do the Port Dalhousie YRE. We'll spend the night at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Buffalo, NY. On Saturday, we'll head to Niagara Falls and have the whole day there to walk and do whatever. We'll head back to Buffalo for the night. On Sunday morning, you'll have the morning time to walk the Downtown Buffalo YRE if you like. We'll be heading out on the bus at noon to go back to Okemos, MI. The cost for transportation and lodging is going to be $200 per person for double occupancy. Single occupancy will be $325. The trip page is up. There are pics from the trip to the UP. |
