The weather cooperated nicely for our group walk in Frankenmuth.  Mary brought her friend and they met up with a walker from Virginia and then Joan found them.  I walked with John, Frances and Harris.

They pretended to be dogs in front of the hay-stuffed dog.

I have arranged to meet with some of the Hiking Michigan folks to measure out a route for our event next May in Maybury State Park.  You are welcome to join us!  We'll meet at the Visitor Center at 10 am on Saturday the 23rd.  Hope to see you there.  For more info and directions, go to the DNR website.

It looks like I'll be leading some of the Hiking Michigan folks on a guided walk of the Grand Ledge YRE in the evening of Friday the 29th.  We'll meet at Sweet Linda's Cafe at 6:30 pm.  You are welcome to join us!

Let's arrange a carpool to the event in Michigan City, IN on October 1st.  I plan to head from Mason to the I-69 in Charlotte and then down to the I-94 in Marshall.  If you would like to meet me at my house before 9 am, just let me know you are coming!

I'm extending the discussion on the business meeting to discuss Valerie's suggestion that we move our Maybury event to the 26th and our DeWitt event to the 20th.  That would be to allow our members to attend events put on in Ohio by the Valley Vagabonds on May 19th and October 13.   I'm in favor of adjusting the dates, what say you?

On August 12, 2006, a semi-annual business meeting of the Great Lakes
Amblers was called to order by Chelane Priller, President, at The
Gavel Restaurant and Lounge in Charlotte, Michigan, following a group
walk of the Charlotte Seasonal.

Members in attendance were: Chelane Priller, Mary Hinton, Eunice
Bottorff, and Nancy and Darrell Bratt.

Guest attendees were: Alicia Holtz, Danielle Parsons, and Malinda
Pals (Eunice's mother).

A walk schedule for the next six months was set:

New YRE's opening in January, 2007 are Haslett, Stockbridge, and
Howell (tentatively).

The next semi-annual business meeting/group walk is scheduled on
2-10-07 at Howell, (tentatively).

Proposed 2007 Events:

State Park Event in partnership with Hiking Michigan is planned for
5-19-07.
Niagara Falls Bus Trip featuring Lake Ontario and Ontario, Canada
Events is planned for the first weekend of August.
Fall Event at De Witt for the Looking Glass River is planned on
10-13-07 with the prospect of becoming a 2008 YRE.

February, 2007 Submissions for 5 & 10K's to be pursued and researched
for May, 2007 openings:

Get your passports ready!

Here's how our trip is shaping up.

We'll leave at 6 am on Friday, August 3rd from the Holiday Inn Express in Okemos, MI and then from the carpooling lot behind the Cracker Barrel for those who will drive to meet us.

Then we'll head through Port Huron over to St. Catherines, Ontario to do the Port Dalhousie YRE.  We'll spend the night at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Buffalo, NY.

On Saturday, we'll head to Niagara Falls and have the whole day there to walk and do whatever.  We'll head back to Buffalo for the night.

On Sunday morning, you'll have the morning time to walk the Downtown Buffalo YRE if you like.  We'll be heading out on the bus at noon to go back to Okemos, MI.

The cost for transportation and lodging is going to be $200 per person for double occupancy.  Single occupancy will be $325.  I'll put up a registration sheet after the conclusion to our business meeting from August.
