Hello fellow walkers!  Now that my son's birthday celebrations are mostly done, I finally have some time to devote to the newsletter.

We walked in Charlotte before our meeting.  Pictured are:  Chelane, Alicia, Danielle, Mary, Eunice and Nancy.  We met after the walk, but we didn't have a quorum, so nothing we talked about is definite yet.  To complete the meeting, I need to have at least another 5 folks email me with their comments / votes on the draft minutes (included at the bottom of the page).  I will close the voting at the end of the day on Saturday, Aug 27, or with the final necessary received vote, which ever comes last.  (We did not propose to change the dues for 2007, so if you think we should, let me know.)

Mary and I test walked Howell.  The hospital (start point) contact asked to keep working with her, so we are going ahead with our YRE there.  I have submitted all the necessary info and files for it.

I have also submitted the brochure and all for our event in Holly State Recreation Area.

I'll see you all in Mt. Pleasant!  I plan to be there, along with my dad and family, at 11 am.

On August 12, 2006, a semi-annual business meeting of the Great Lakes
Amblers was called to order by Chelane Priller, President, at The
Gavel Restaurant and Lounge in Charlotte, Michigan, following a group
walk of the Charlotte Seasonal.

Members in attendance were: Chelane Priller, Mary Hinton, Eunice
Bottorff, and Nancy and Darrell Bratt.

Guest attendees were: Alicia Holtz, Danielle Parsons, and Malinda
Pals (Eunice's mother).

New Business:

A walk schedule for the next six months was set:

8-27-06 CMU, Historic Pathfinders Event
9-1-06 Grand Ledge YRE, GLA Group Walk
9-3-06 Whitefish Point, GLA Event
9-16-06 Frankenmuth Seasonal, GLA Group Walk
10-1-06 Michigan City, IN Event, GLA Group Walk
10-14-06 Ionia, Historic Pathwalkers Event
10-15-06 Independence Lake, Washtenau Wanderers Event
10-28-06 Holly State Recreation Area, GLA & Hiking Michigan Event
11-11-06 Sylvania, OH YRE, GLA Group Walk
1-7-07 Ann Arbor, Washtenau Wanderers Event

New YRE's opening in January, 2007 are Haslett, Stockbridge, and
Howell (tentatively).

The next semi-annual business meeting/group walk is scheduled on
2-10-07 at Howell, (tentatively).

Proposed 2007 Events:

State Park Event in partnership with Hiking Michigan is planned for
5-19-07.
Niagara Falls Bus Trip featuring Lake Ontario and Ontario, Canada
Events is planned for the first weekend of August.
Fall Event at De Witt for the Looking Glass River is planned on
10-13-07 with the prospect of becoming a 2008 YRE.

February, 2007 Submissions for 5 & 10K's to be pursued and researched
for May, 2007 openings:

Maybury State Park Event and Northville YRE, Nancy Bratt, Trailmaster
Whitmore Lake YRE, Eunice Bottorff. Trailmaster
Milford YRE, Mary Hinton, Trailmaster

Great Lakes Weekend

We have 47 seats reserved on the bus.  We have paid for the small bus (49 participants).  We have up to 2 more seats available.  Our bus will be meeting us at the Holiday Inn and other hotels on W. Saginaw Highway in Lansing starting at 6 am on Saturday, Sept 2.

Valerie Meyer would like to find a roommate for the Friday night, Sept 1.
