Nancy and I test-walked the Haslett route last Saturday.  We had some difficulty with some of the proposed route, especially this trail . . .

"What trail?" you ask?  Well, that did make it confusing, especially since it was part of the outfield . . .

So, we've changed the route around and you won't be interfering with the left fielder on the revised route!  The route comes out now at 11K, with longer options available (taking longer nature trails).

I also did a short nature walk with Hiking Michigan (before test walking in Haslett).  We walked in Highland Recreation Area.   There were lot of stops to learn about and photograph nature,

like great big ant hills,

and dragonflies.

This Saturday, I'll be meeting with Rob Golda of Hiking Michigan to measure out 5K and 10K routes for our combined event in October.  If you would like to meet us for the test walk, see the top of the events schedule.

For our next group walk in East Lansing, I'm changing the start time to 11 am, so that the MSU Dairy Store will be open by the time we get there on the route.

I added another Google map to show the Regular Events and Group Walks.  Check it out and let me know if any corrections need to be made.

I hope you can join us in East Lansing!

TEST WALK ON SAT, July 1st

Holly Recreation Area, 11 am

From I-75, take exit # 101 Grange Hall Rd.  Go east on Grange Hall into Holly Recreation Area.  Turn right (south) at entrance to Beach.  Stay straight thru first intersection (DO NOT TURN TO BEACH)  and then turn left at next intersection and bear right, ending in large loop parking area.

You need a State Parks Vehicle Permit.  Wear sunscreen and insect repellent. We'll do the 5 K loop first and then stop to eat our bag lunches at the picnic area near our cars (I'm going to leave mine in a cooler in the car).  Then we will do the remaining 5K.  Bring your swim gear to cool off afterward!
